One and Half Weeks Until Move In

Our contractor, Home Services Direct, has really been pushing the project along!!  Brief summary since the last post.
Wood floors were installed & finished and will be polished/buffed prior to move in.
Work has started on the interior doors and trim. The kitchen cabinets are almost all installed and the stone fabricator measured for the marble tops today and will be installing them on Friday.  Here are pictures of some of the progress:

To ensure the project would be completed in time, Home Services Direct drove down to Kentucky, met the cabinet manufacturer and brought the cabinets back to Chicago on a Sunday for next day install.
The floors were covered for protection before I had a chance to take pictures, but here you can see the color of the wood.

Picture of the tile flooring in the master bathroom.  This will also be the floor tile in the guest bathroom.  It is a hexagon marble mosaic.  Gina likes it a lot.

Wood Floors Started Today - T Minus 3 Weeks Until Move In

Alot has been going on over the last week.  Tough to take good pictures when it is dark outside (not many wired lights in the house yet).  They finished the drywall and the walls have been primed.  Wood floors started today and are just about complete. The small bedroom and the stairs are all that is left.  They will start sanding them down tomorrow and hopefully start with the first layer of finish on them tomorrow as well.  Less than 3 weeks left until move in date.  Hopefully everything stays on schedule.

Kitchen Countertops

Last night we picked out the marble slabs that will be used for the counter tops in the kitchen and master bath. It was so much fun looking all the beautiful stone, and in the end we decided to go with the Montclair Nuvolato Marble with a luster finish. It will give us the look of Carrara Marble, but is a much denser stone and doesn't scratch and stain like other marbles. Also, it is a domestic stone from Vermont, so it was MUCH cheaper than the Italian Marbles I had been dreaming about. So a WIN WIN - Cheaper and more durable! SUPER excited to see the end result!
